Bayonne Rec Division Has Another Successful Summer With 28 Camps & Programs

Bayonne’s Superintendent of Recreation Pete Amadeo has announced that its 28 summer camps and programs have a combined registration of 1,398 participants for 2026. The Recreation Division sponsors six day camps for kids, the Ability Day Camp for special needs participants, which includes adults, and twenty-one other summer programs.  Mayor Sharon Nadrowski stated, “The City of Bayonne is very proud of our Recreation Division and the great variety of camps and programs that it offers to the community.  We look forward to continuing these successful services into the future.  I would like to thank Pete Amadeo, the Recreation Division staff, and the summer camp counselors for everything they have achieved this summer.” 

Amadeo noted that some camps and activities experienced significant growth since 2025.  For example, the registration for the Arts and Crafts Camp nearly doubled from 47 to 83.  The Robinson School Day Camp jumped from 125 participants last year to 175 campers this year.  He explained the increased sign-ups from 2025 to 2026 by saying, “We have great programs.”  Amadeo continued, “People see what we’re doing, and they want their children to join in.  All of our camps this year are filled to capacity.”

On Saturday mornings in the summer, DiDomenico Pool at 16^th Street hosts a special needs open swim before the facility opens to the general public.  There are 127 registered participants in the special needs open swim program, which began last year.
