Bayonne's Finest Expands: Sixteen New Officers Sworn into Police Department

Bayonne, NJ – In a significant expansion of its law enforcement capabilities, the Bayonne Police Department welcomed sixteen new officers during a formal swearing-in ceremony held on December 20 in the City Council Chambers.

The ceremony commenced with a procession led by the Bayonne Police Honor Guard and the Bayonne Police Pipes and Drums. The musical ensemble performed “The Minstrel Boy,” “Amazing Grace,” and “Scotland the Brave,” setting a solemn yet celebratory tone for the event.

Rev. John Fencik, a respected local pastor and former 9-1-1 Coordinator, provided the invocation, blessing the proceedings and the new officers. City Clerk Madelene Medina administered the oath of office, officially inducting the new officers into the department.

Mayor Jimmy Davis, a retired police captain himself, addressed the gathering, highlighting the significant role the new officers will play in the community. He emphasized the importance of compassion in policing, urging the officers to treat citizens with respect and empathy.

Public Safety Director Robert Kubert, alongside Police Chief Robert Geisler, expressed gratitude to the Mayor and City Council for their support in strengthening the department. Chief Geisler reminded the new recruits of the responsibilities that come with their badges, encouraging them to uphold the highest standards of integrity and service.

Council Member At-Large Loyad Booker and Juan Perez, both with backgrounds in law enforcement, shared personal insights and advice with the new officers, underscoring the importance of respect and honor in their roles.

The ceremony concluded with a benediction by Rev. Dorothy Paterson, offering prayers and support to the new officers and their families.

The new officers, hailing from various educational and professional backgrounds, bring diverse experiences and skills to the department. This expansion marks a significant step in enhancing public safety and service in Bayonne.
