Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller announced today that on October 29, 2024, Secaucus Police responded to a fenced in parking lot on Henry Street on a report of burglaries to several trucks. Chief Miller says information became available that during the overnight hours, someone burglarized six trucks and stole their EZ Pass transponders, as well as portable radios valued at approximately $3,000.

Secaucus Detectives conducted a follow-up investigation and determined that Luis Najera Mendoza was the suspect.   The 23-year old Mendoza, a resident of Belleville, was arrested on January 17, 2025.  During a consensual search of Mendoza’s residence and vehicle, detectives recovered some of the stolen property.

In a statement, Chief Miller said, “I am proud of the investigative work of my detectives. Their continuous hard work is symbolic to their dedication to the residents and businesses owners in Secaucus.  What these detectives do on a daily basis truly makes a difference to the quality of life in this Town.”

Mendoza has been charged with two counts of burglary and theft of moveable property.  He has been released pending a Court appearance.  These charges against him are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
