On Sunday, June 7, you can bike all over Jersey City with thousands of your closest friends, in the 15th annual Jersey City Ward Tour.
The signature event of local cycling advocacy group Bike JC, the Ward Tour takes riders on a 16-mile cruise through all six of Jersey City’s wards. This year, the ride both starts and ends in the Exchange Place neighborhood, right next to the newly redesigned riverfront plaza that frames spectacular harbor and skyline views.
Online registration is open now at https://www.bikejc.org/ward-tour. There will also be in-person registration at our early bib pickup locations this Friday and Saturday (details on our website), and at the start on Sunday morning, beginning at 9 a.m. Over 1,000 people have already registered; previous editions have drawn over 3,000 riders.
“In a time of a soaring cost of living and rampant divisiveness, the Ward Tour is a celebration of community, freedom, and affordability,” said Tyler Newcomb, President of Bike JC. “It is a reminder that cycling brings all of us together, allows us to experience our communities more intimately, and provides an affordable and sustainable means of transportation and recreation.”
The 2026 tour is presented through the generosity of our many donors and sponsors, including major sponsorships from the Exchange Place Alliance, Vaccaro Law, and Xena dispensary, and with the invaluable help of numerous Jersey City and Hudson County departments and agencies.
Protected by rolling street closures implemented by Jersey City police, the tour will roll out at 11:00 a.m. sharp, circling Jersey City at a casual, conversational pace (8 mph at the front, with several breaks to regroup).
Registration for the tour is required for all participants, including children of all ages, and is $15 (seniors $5; under 18 free). Everyone must wear helmets. Younger children may be carried securely on an adult’s bike, trailer, etc. The tour is rain or shine.
Riders will finish between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. back at Exchange Place.
Bike JC is a community-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit advocacy organization that aims to make Jersey City streets welcoming for bicyclists by promoting bike-friendly policies, including protected bike lanes and bicycle education.
