Governor Phil Murphy announced this afternoon that all New Jersey schools, public and private will remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-20 academic year. All school districts will continue with remote learning.
Murphy said the decision was not easy, but it was “made for the safety and well-being” of students, staff and administrators. The Governor said during his daily coronavirus media briefing that “we cannot safely reopen schools for in-person instruction.”
The Governor added that all spring sports have been cancelled. That decision was made in consultation with the NJSIAA, school districts and health officials.

Schools with longer academic years will remain closed until at least June 30. Any decisions on summer instruction will be made at a later time.
