Hoboken Police Chief Ken Ferrante just concluded a press conference outside of a residence where a reported domestic incident put three people, including a 5-year old, in danger late this afternoon. The Chief stated that the Hudson County Regional SWAT team safely removed the child from the residence, along with a 41-year old male, who was transported to a hospital while in police custody.
The Chief would not release the names of anyone involved in the incident, which he would “not classify at this time, as a hostage situation.”
No injuries were reported as a result of the situation, which began earlier this afternoon in the area of Garden and Eighth Streets. Hoboken Police had tweeted at 5:08 pm to avoid the area of 6th to 8th Street from Bloomfield Street to Park Avenue.
Various media outlets have said the incident involved a father and child, but Chief Ferrante at 7:30 told reporters he would not confirm the relationship between the three people involved.
