UPDATED: Multi Alarm Fire in Kearny Wood Frame Homes Injures 3

THIS STORY CONTAINS NEW INFORMATION                                                                                                                                                                                             A multiple alarm fire on Sunday morning in three, two-and-and-a-half story, wood frame homes at 348, 350 and 352 Elm Street in Kearny was fought by multiple fire departments. The blaze, which reached five alarms, was between Oakwood and Quincy.

Among the Fire Departments providing mutual aid to Kearny were Bayonne, Harrison and Jersey City.  News 12 New Jersey reported three people, including two firefighters, were sent to the hospital for treatment.  A Kearny firefighter was treated and released, while a Jersey City firefighter and a resident of one of the homes were still hospitalized as of late Sunday afternoon.

It was also reported that three pets did not survive the blaze.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
