The Township of Weehawken has announced that a sewage main ruptured around 8 o’clock tonight along the Hudson River waterfront. The following information was posted on the municipality’s government page:
Attention Weehawken Residents: A sewerage main has ruptured at the intersection of Carlyle and Port Imperial Blvd. North Hudson Sewerage Authority crews and contractors are on the scene and will begin repairing the broken main.
Unfortunately, this repair may go overnight, and into the early morning. Township Police will have some traffic diversions. Please avoid the area if possible
The extent of the damage is unknown until crews can uncover the roadway and visually inspect the mainline.
All drinking water is safe for consumption and you may use your bathrooms and sinks.
As soon as the Township has more information we will update residents.
