Hoboken Police Detective Sergeant Jonathan Mecka has announced that two men, wanted on outstanding burglary warrants, were apprehended late Thursday afternoon in the Mile Square City.
According to Mecka, Hoboken residents Peter Perez and Alexis Rivera, both 42 years of age, were arrested at approximately 5 o’clock at 655 6th Street.
The Hoboken Police Department Investigation Bureau was conducting surveillance in the area of 6th and Harrison Streets. This was based on the potential whereabouts of two wanted burglars, Rivera and Perez. Detectives were able to view the two males in the area of 655 6th Street. Knowing that they both had active arrest warrants stemming from a burglary spree during the month of December, Detectives Fabian Quinones, Connor Milne and Ryan Houghton converged on them.
Upon approaching them, they complied with the detectives’ orders and they were safely placed under arrest. During the search prior to their arrests, the detectives discovered burglary tools and drug paraphernalia.
While at Hoboken Police Headquarters, Alexis Rivera was processed on 4 separate burglaries (3 in December, 1 in January) and Peter Perez was processed on 2 separate burglaries (both in December). Based on the investigation it was determined that these two individuals worked together to commit these crimes, therefore, they were charged with conspiracy to commit burglary.
All charges were placed on warrants and both Rivera and Perez were transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny.
