Collision Unit Investigating Fatal Jersey City Crash

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Thursday, September 10, 2026.

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello, shortly after 5 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck on Routes 1 and 9 near Duncan Avenue. Responding officers located a male victim – later identified as 58-year old Glenn Minasian of Jersey City – with serious injuries. He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. The striking vehicle remained at the scene.

Routes 1 and 9 northbound between Communipaw Avenue and Duncan Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic on Sunday, September 13, 2026 beginning at approximately 3 a.m. as part of the ongoing investigation by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes until approximately 7 a.m.
