Committee Assignments Announced For Hudson Legislators

The 221st New Jersey Legislature convened last week.  There are two, new State Senators representing Hudson County and five, new Assembly persons in the 31st, 32nd and 33rd legislative districts.

Due to the large turnover, there were relatively few Chairmanship positions handed out to Hudson County legislators.

In the State Assembly, Speaker Craig Coughlin appointed Bayonne Assemblyman William Sampson as the Chairman of the Consumer Affairs Committee.  No other committee Chairmanships were given to any Hudson County Assembly persons.

On the Senate side, President Nicholas Scutari reappointed Brian Stack as Chairman of the Judiciary Committee.   Stack is also Vice-Chairman of Community and Urban Affairs Committee.  Meanwhile, Angela McKnight, who was elevated from the Assembly, and Raj Mukherji, who also is a former Assemblyman, received the following assignments:

McKnight was appointed to the Education Committee; Law and Public Safety Committee; and the Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens Committee.  Mukherji, meanwhile, was appointed Vice Chairman of the Transportation Committee.   He also was assigned to the Military and Veterans Committee and the Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens Committee.
