The intersection of Summit and Pavonia Avenues in Jersey City was closed to traffic mid-morning today when a piece of equipment from a construction site fell on a man, seriously injuring him.
According to Jersey City spokesperson Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione, the accident occurred at 532 Summit Avenue. Jersey City Police, Fire and Emergency Management personnel all responded to the scene.
The identity of the victim has yet to be released. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
OSHA, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been contacted according to Wakkace-Scalcione.
