Speaking about her new responsibility, Jabbour stated, “Last night I was sworn into the role of Hoboken City Council President – I am very grateful to my colleagues for their unanimous vote.  I look forward to working with Ravi Bhalla, Mayor of Hoboken and his Administration, my Council colleagues, and continuing to serve the residents of Hoboken in this new role.”

Last night Mayor Bhalla tweeted, “Congratulations to @HobokenEmily on her new role as City Council President! 2023 will be an important year for Hoboken and I look forward to working with her and the entire Council to move forward important projects on behalf of our residents.”

The Mayor also tweeted the following on Councilman Michael Russo, who served as Council President last year. “Thank you also to @MichaelRussoNJ Mike Russo, the 2023 Council Vice President for his leadership over the past year as Council President, and for helping lead critical votes forward on the City Council.”

In kind, Councilman Russo tweeted, “Thank you for your kind words Mayor Bhalla @RaviBhalla, I’m honored to have your support. I look forward to continuing our work in serving our great city.”
