Jersey City – The Hudson County Board of Commissioners has approved a grant of $60,000 for the Hurley Family Foundation to implement and oversee a summer basketball program in Lincoln Park in Jersey City and Stephen R. Gregg Park in Bayonne.

The program anticipates significant outcomes for the participants.  The program will help develop and sustain positive relationships with others, improve conflict resolution skills, foster teamwork, promote healthy lifestyles to prevent obesity and illness.  The program will also help to reduce juvenile delinquency, and promote a safe and healthy environment for youths and families.

The program will be an eight week program set to begin this month, July 2021, and will end in August 2021.

Board Chairman Anthony Vainieri, Commissioner Bill ODea, Commissioner Kenneth Kopacz and the Hudson County Board of Commissioners are “committed to provide the necessary resources that are needed to improve social interactions, improve conflict resolution skills, reduce juvenile delinquency and foster teamwork among the county youths.”
