Craig Guy Sworn In By Governor As Hudson County Executive

During a ceremony held at the Earl Byrd Center at the Hudson County Schools of Technology’s County Prep High School in Jersey City on Thursday night, Craig Guy was sworn in as the fifth County Executive in Hudson County’s history.  Governor Phil Murphy administered the oath of office.

Several hundred people attended the inauguration ceremony, including many federal, state, county and municipally-elected government officials. United States Senator Cory Booker sent a video message congratulating Guy, while Congressmen Bill Pascrell and Rob Menendez attended in person.  Nearly every Hudson County Mayor was there, as were the incoming State Legislative representatives from the 31st, 32nd and 33rd Districts.

              Held in the gymnasium, students from the County Prep High School culinary program served food, while those from High Tech High School’s choir performed.  Two 12th graders emceed the program.

Those in attendance praised both Guy and his predecessor Tom DeGise for their outstanding commitment to public service and providing residents with needed proframs and services for more than twenty years.

Guy, who began his career in law enforcement, served as a Jersey City Police Lieutenant before entering politics.  He vowed to continue working proactively with each municipality to make Hudson County a safe place to live.  He also wants to continue the success of the Open Space Trust Fund and improve roads for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.
