When students return to Weehawken High School for a hybrid learning schedule beginning on January 25th, they will find a completely renovated gymnasium.
Superintendent of Schools Eric Crespo told Hudson TV that the construction project took eight weeks to complete. As you can see from the photos provided by Principal Robert Ferullo, when athletes eventually return to hit the hardwood, they will be playing basketball, volleyball and any other activity on a state-of-the-art, gymnasium floor.
The total cost of the renovation project was $170,000. Crespo says, “it was an insurance claim from water damage during a storm in late August. Repairing the issues to prevent repeat damage $5,000.”
As you can see, the familiar “W-feathered” logo adorns the center of the floor. The border of the court features the years for championships won by the High School’s various sports teams with the skyline of Manhattan on one side.
It’s a project the students, administration and athletes can certainly be proud of.
