Democrats Rush to Endorse Kamala Harris Without Policy Knowledge: A Troubling Trend

Several prominent Democrats have endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for President, without waiting to hear her policy plans. Among them are New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, Rep. Andy Kim (D-Moorestown), Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair), Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-Ewing), Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, and Rep. Rob Menendez.

Rob Menendez, who had endorsed Joe Biden just days before he dropped out, was among the first to endorse Harris. In a statement, Menendez said, “I am proud to endorse @KamalaHarris for President. She is the right choice to lead our country forward.”

Similarly, Steven Fulop, who had also endorsed Biden, signaled his support for Harris, tweeting, “@KamalaHarris will be an outstanding candidate and of course I’ll work hard on her behalf.”

The endorsements come as a surprise to many, as Democrats have traditionally based their endorsements on a candidate’s policy proposals and leadership qualities. However, in this case, it appears that some Democrats are more concerned with party unity and defeating Donald Trump than with the specifics of Harris’s policy agenda.

Critics have pointed out that this rush to endorse Harris without hearing her policies is a sign of the “cult-like” behavior of the Democratic Party. As one Twitter user put it, “How is everyone just endorsing Kamala without hearing any of her policy plans? Does anyone realize what a cult the entire Democrat Party is looking like right now?”

While it is understandable that Democrats want to rally behind a candidate who can defeat Trump, it is important for voters to know where Harris stands on the issues that matter to them. Without hearing her policies, it is impossible to make an informed decision about whether she is the right person to lead the country.

This troubling trend of rushing to endorse a candidate without considering their policy plans is not only undemocratic, but it also undermines the very principles of democracy. Voters deserve to know what a candidate stands for and what they plan to do if elected. Anything less is a disservice to the American people.
