Hudson County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a DWI Checkpoint on Thursday, July 25th, at the intersection of Kennedy Blvd and Manhattan Ave in Jersey City. The primary purpose of this checkpoint is to discourage drivers from getting behind the wheel while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Sheriff Frank Schillari emphasized that the goal of the checkpoint is not to make arrests, but to educate the public and prevent accidents caused by impaired driving. “Impaired driving is a serious issue that puts everyone on the road at risk,” said Sheriff Schillari. “We want to remind drivers that it’s not just alcohol that can impair your ability to drive safely. Some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs can also affect your judgment and reaction time.”

In addition to the checkpoint, the Sheriff’s Office will have extra patrols throughout the county to further discourage drunk driving. Sheriff Schillari also highlighted the importance of the Hudson County Vision Zero Task Force, which is working to make all of the county’s roads safer for everyone.
