**THIS STORY CONTAINS NEW INFORMATION                                                                                                                                                                                             A fatal shooting overnight in Hoboken is under investigation.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office tweeted after 1:30 am that the Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit and the Hoboken Police Department were investigating a fatal shooting on Marshall Drive.

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 28th, the Hoboken Police Department received a report of shots fired in the area of 320 Marshall Drive.  Officers responding located a crime scene outside the building.  A 21- year-old male, later identified as Damon Murray of Hoboken, was transported by a private car to the Jersey City Medical Center.   Murray had an apparent gunshot wound to the abdomen.  He was pronounced dead just after midnight on Monday, April 29, 2024.

The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

Murray is a former Hoboken High School football player who briefly suited up for the Rutgers University football squad.

Marshall Drive is located on the western edge of the city next to the NJ Transit light rail tracks.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Hoboken Police Department are actively investigating the incident.  No arrests have been made.
