Just two-and-a-half hours following an overnight hit-and-run accident in Jersey City, a fatal car crash took the life of a Jersey City resident this morning. According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating a collision that took place at approximately 2:22 a.m.
Suarez says the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a collision on Kennedy Boulevard in the area of St. Pauls Avenue. When police arrived at the intersection, they discovered a vehicle fully engulfed in flames on the northbound side of the street. The driver, who has been tentatively identified as a 25-year-old Jersey City man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Prosecutor Suarez says an active investigation is underway by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit with assistance from the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Jersey City Police Department.
