Santiago Quiaxan-Castro, a 37-year old Guatemalan national from Palisades Park, who is employed as a day laborer, has been charged by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office with raping an 11-year old girl.
The Daily Voice was first to report the arrest, which was undertaken on Thursday by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit.
The Daily Voice article says Prosecutor Mark Musella’s office was told by borough police that Quiaxan-Castro allegedly “engaged in sexual penetration with a child under the age of 13 while in Palisades Park.”
Quiaxan-Castro is being held in the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack. He is charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault by contact and child endangerment.
The Daily Voice also reports that ICE hadn’t yet issued a detainer as of late Friday morning for a possible immigration hearing.
