Guttenberg Sewer Project Gets Funding From County Commissioners

Hudson County Board of Commissioners reallocated funds from the Hudson County Action Plan and the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development totaling $177,320 for another program

Hudson County– The Hudson County Board of Commissioners have reallocated funds from the Hudson County Action Plan and the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.  This is a prerequisite to receive entitlements from the Community Development Block Grant funds in the amount of $177,320.

The grant will be reallocated from the traffic signal project and will be utilized on the new sewer improvement projects in the Town of Guttenberg.

According to Board Chairman Anthony Vainieri, Commissioner Caridad Rodriguez, who represents Guttenberg, and the remaining members of the Hudson County Board of Commissioners are committed to providing the necessary resources to assist municipalities of Hudson County dealing with issues pertaining to sewer improvements.

In addition, the Board of Commissioners have approved funds, totaling $133,000 for services provided to inmates through the Housing and Reintegration Program of the Hudson County Department of Family Services.

These funds will provide services for pre-occupational, comprehensive education and employment training services for pre-release and post-release adults.  This continuum of care assists in reducing recidivism through the provision of education and employment training services. A county press release says the funding is made available for training and services of the ex-offender population and those individuals who can be “diverted” from the various law enforcement departments and process leading to imprisonment.

The program runs from March 1, 2021 through February 28, 2022.
