The Weehawken High School’s Black Student Union recently visited Harlem as part of the celebration of Black History Month.

The students visited many of the neighborhood’s iconic locations, including the Apollo Theater, the Schomburg Center and the Jacob Restaurant.  They documented their visit by taking photographs of the various venues, which are now part of a display at the Weehawken Public Library.

The visit allowed the students to learn about African-American culture in the neighborhoods of Harlem; the food, the fashion and the customs.

It was an eye opening experience for the students, and now the public has an opportunity to view photographs of the students’ journey.

The exhibit of photographs will remain on display at the Weehawken Public Library through the end of March.  It’s something you won’t want to miss.
