With the increasing number of coronavirus virus cases in Hudson County in recent weeks, another school district has changed its plans with regard to student instruction. The Harrison Board of Education, which was scheduled to switch to In-Person/Hybrid learning for district students tomorrow, Monday, November 16, has reversed course.
In a letter to parents, Acting Superintendent of Schools Maureen Kroog and Dr. James P. Doran, the Director of Personnel/Human Resources/Compliance and Crisis Management, state, “Since the District puts our children’s and their families’ safety first, and due to an increased spread of COVID-19 locally, the District will be delaying the in-person/hybrid instructional program that was to begin on November 16th.
THE DISTRICT WILL REMAIN ON VIRTUAL INSTRUCTION UNTIL AT LEAST JANUARY 4, 2021. We will re-evaluate the distance learning program after the winter recess, depending on the number of positive cases in the town, county, and state.”
Parents are advised if they completed the parent survey, then their choice for remote or in-person/hybrid instruction will remain in effect until January 29, 2021. The Board of Education asks parents who have not completed the parental survey to do so as soon as possible.
