Hit-and-Run Incident in West New York Leaves Union City Man Critically Injured

WEST NEW YORK, NJ – A 54-year-old pedestrian from Union City was critically injured after being struck by a motorcycle in a hit-and-run accident on Saturday, August 17, 2024. The incident occurred around 3:40 p.m. at the intersection of Bergenline Avenue and 57th Street, a location known for its heavy pedestrian traffic.

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, the motorcycle’s occupants fled the scene on foot, leaving the victim in dire need of medical attention. Emergency services rushed the man to Jersey City Medical Center, where he currently remains in critical condition, fighting for his life.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit, alongside the West New York Police Department, has launched an intensive investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible for this reckless act.
