Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla has announced that beginning on Wednesday, May 20th, the city will be opening an antibody testing location.  In addition, the Mayor has announced the creation of an Economic Recovery Task Force.  Details of both initiatives were made public on Wednesday night:

Antibody testing open to Hoboken residents

I’m very glad to share that Hoboken is launching an antibody testing site for residents starting next Wednesday. This site will be one of the first rapid antibody testing sites in the region, with results provided in 10 minutes or the same day via text message. Last week’s pilot launch was a success, with over 250 people tested for antibodies. The testing we are providing indicates COVID-19 antibodies built up for both current and past exposure, important data as we begin to plan for a safe re-opening for our City. Please visit http://hobokennj.gov/antibody to sign up for an appointment. Proof of residency is needed as is a face mask or face cover the day of the test, and no walk-ins are permitted. Testing will also occur on May 25 and 27, with additional dates provided for June.

Thank you to Dr. Javed Islam from Prompt MD and Keith Barksdale from Power Analytics for working with us to make this testing possible for residents. Hoboken is now one of the only municipalities in the tri-state region to offer both rapid COVID-19 and rapid antibody testing.

Economic Recovery Task Force

Today, I signed an executive order establishing Hoboken’s Economic Recovery Task Force, made up of leaders in our small business community, to provide assistance to the City and Hoboken business community during the COVID-19 pandemic. The task force members will provide recommendations on advancing a gradual reopening that is safe for business employees, customers, and the City of Hoboken.

While the State ultimately determines the timeline and certain guidelines of a gradual re-opening, the task force will present an initial set of recommendations for both the City to consider, as well as a comprehensive set of best practices for businesses to consider. This initiative is being undertaken to help ensure that when the time comes that businesses are allowed to re-open, they are given the best possible guidance and conditions for them to do so as successfully as possible.
