Just one day after Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla announced that he would seek the Assembly seat in the 32nd Legislative District, incumbent freshman Assemblyman John Allen today announced that he will not seek a second term in Trenton.
Allen, Bhalla’s former City Hall Chief of Staff, will instead seek new opportunities in public service.
In a press announcement, Assemblyman Allen stated, “Serving the people of Hoboken and Jersey City has been an immense honor. I’m incredibly proud of the progress we’ve made together, from the adoption of the Target Zero Commission to combat traffic fatalities and securing vital state funding for local projects, to advancing critical legislation on climate change, reproductive healthcare access, and gun violence prevention.”
Allen emphasized his commitment to maximizing his remaining time in office. “My focus remains squarely on delivering for my constituents. I’ll continue fighting for the policies that matter most to the people of Hoboken, Jersey City and the entire state, and remain readily accessible to assist with any challenges they face navigating state services.”
Constituents can connect with Assemblyman Allen at his next office hours, scheduled for Monday, January 27th, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Hoboken Multi Service Center. He regularly holds office hours at this location on the third Monday of every other month. Assemblyman Allen also reminds constituents that the NJMVC mobile unit will be available at the Hoboken Multi Service Center on Monday, March 10th, through Friday, March 14th, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The unit will provide a range of MVC services, including assistance with obtaining REAL IDs ahead of the federal deadline in May.
Independents Bhalla and Katie Brennan, along with incumbent Democratic Assemblywoman Jessica Ramirez, are announced candidates in the 32nd Legislative District.
