Hoboken comienza el proceso de planificación para el Parque de Resiliencia SW y comienza la construcción en el Parque Maxwell

La ciudad de Hoboken lanzará oficialmente el proceso de planificación para la expansión del Parque de Resiliencia del Suroeste con la primera de dos sesiones de compromiso público este fin de semana.

Las sesiones de compromiso se llevarán a cabo en el 60 Harrison St., el sitio del Parque Pop-up Temporal del Sudoeste en:

• Sábado 23 de octubre, de 11 a.m. a 3 p.m. (si el tiempo lo permite, fecha de lluvia: 30 de octubre)

In July 2021, the City purchased Block 10 to expand the existing Southwest Resiliency Park to ultimately provide recreational amenities and to further mitigate area flooding.

The City opened the temporary pop-up park for residents to immediately utilize while the City launched into a public planning process for the permanent expansion of the park.

Public input, gathered through engagement sessions, surveys, workshops, and more, will be used to develop alternative designs for the project that will incorporate open space amenities and stormwater management measures. Public feedback on these alternatives will guide a final design for the park before the project undergoes construction.

Maxwell Park Landscape Improvements Commence 

Landscape improvements to Maxwell Park began today, October 20.

Over the next two to three weeks, the contractor will plant 26 trees, various perennial shrubs and grasses, and implement other landscape upgrades. These landscape improvements were developed after damage from Tropical Storm Isaias in 2020 uprooted trees in the waterfront park.

This week, the contractor, Downes Tree Service, will prune trees near the boathouse, remove soil and prepare planting beds, among other construction activities.

The contractor will be utilizing the former Union Dry Dock site to store materials and equipment, and vehicles will be traveling between the site and Maxwell Park during construction hours.

The project is funded by the Maxwell Park Board.
