On August 25, 2020, at about 3:03 AM, Police Officers Jesse Castellano and Joseph Spano were on patrol in the area of 300 Madison Street when they observed a male on a bicycle wearing hockey shoulder pads also attempting to carry two bicycles. The officers stopped the male for investigation. The male was identified as Brayn Martinez 18 y/o Male from Jersey City, NJ. The following officers arrived as back up and assist with the investigation: Police Officer Joshua Campoverde, Police Officer Brandon Fitzgibbons, Police Officer Domenic Allegretta, Sergeant Donald Rosso, and Lieutenant Edmond Drishti. The investigation led the officers to the area of 5th and Madison Street. They discovered a residential garage that appeared to have been burglarized. Officers found an entrance door to the garage which appeared to be bent at the bottom. The officers also found a broken lock inside the garage and storage lockers which appeared to be rummaged through. The officers believed the items in Martinez’s possession had been stolen from said garage. Martinez was arrested and transported to police headquarters. A search of Martinez revealed he was in possession of credit cards with three different names and Drug Paraphernalia. Mr. Martinez was charged with Burglary, Theft, Credit Card Theft, Hindering Apprehension, Contempt, and Drug Paraphernalia. His charges were placed on a warrant and he was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On August 27, 2020, Detective Vito Gigante identified Brayn Martinez as the suspect in a bicycle theft he was investigating. On August 17, 2020, an unknown male entered a residential garage in the area of Newark and Jefferson. The unknown took a bicycle from within the garage and left in an unknown direction. Detective Gigante investigated the incident and identified Martinez as the alleged actor. Martinez was charged with Burglary and Theft for this incident. The complaint was placed on a warrant.
