Hoboken Council Reorganizes: Doyle Selected President, Cohen VP

The Hoboken City Council held its annual reorganization meeting on Wednesday night at City Hall.  Councilman-at-Large Jim Doyle, who has been serving as Acting Council President since the untimely passing of President Jen Giattino last November, was unanimously chosen by his colleagues to serve as President for 2025.

Doyle was nominated by Councilwoman-at-Large Emily Jabbour.

5th Ward Councilman Phil Cohen, who was nominated by Councilman-at-Large Joe Quintero to be Vice President, was selected by a 5-3 vote.  In a statement this morning, Vice President Cohen said, “I thank my council colleagues for their support.  I pledge to work hard and in a spirit of cooperation with Council President Jim Doyle and the rest of the members of the City Council to tackle the challenges that face our city and to improve the quality of life for all of our residents.”

2nd Ward Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher, 1st Ward Councilman Paul Presinzano, and 4th Ward Councilman Ruben Ramos voted no to Cohen’s appointment, while Jabbour, Quintero, Doyle, Cohen, and 3rd Ward Councilman Michael Russo voted yes.
