Hoboken Invites Residents to Joyful Christmas Tree Lighting and Community Giving Celebration

Hoboken, NJ – The City of Hoboken and the Hoboken Business Alliance are extending a warm invitation to all residents for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony. This festive event, set to sparkle on Tuesday, November 28, at 5 p.m., promises to be a blend of holiday cheer and community spirit.

Taking place at the heart of the city at 11th and Washington Streets, the celebration will feature the beloved Elvis the Elf and live performances by talented Hoboken youth. Adding to the excitement, Santa Claus himself is scheduled to make a special guest appearance, much to the delight of attendees of all ages.

In the spirit of the season, local Hoboken businesses, including Merry Hot Cocoa, Apple Montessori School, and the Hive, will be offering free hot cocoa and baked goods, ensuring a warm and sweet experience for everyone who joins the festivities.

The event is not just about lighting up the tree but also about lighting up lives. The Hoboken Police Department will be collecting unwrapped toys and gift cards for families in need. The Hoboken Community Center and the Hoboken Shelter are also participating, accepting donations of non-perishable items and shower supplies, respectively.

Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla emphasized the event’s dual focus on celebration and giving back, stating, “The annual Hoboken Christmas Tree Lighting is a celebration of joy and community. This year, we are not just lighting up the night but also giving back to those in need.”

Roxanne Earley, Executive Director of the Hoboken Business Alliance, echoed this sentiment, encouraging the community to support local businesses and donation drives.

To facilitate attendance, the City is providing free hop service to and from the event, with pickups starting at 3:30 p.m. from multiple locations, including the Multi-Service Center at 124 Grand St.

Moreover, to promote local shopping and dining, the City is offering discounted metered on-street parking from Nov. 28 through Dec. 31. The promo code “SHOPHOB” can be used in the ParkMobile app for 50% off parking sessions.

Starting Small Business Saturday, Nov. 25, free parking for up to four hours will be available on weekends in select municipal garages for those showing a receipt of at least $20 from Hoboken shopping or dining establishments.
