Hoboken Man arrested for 3 counts of burglary and 4 counts of theft

A Hoboken Man has been arrested for 3 counts of burglary and 4 counts of theft according to Hoboken Police.

Incident Details:

Offense Location: 111 Newark Street, Hoboken, NJ (Residential Building)
Charges: 2 Counts of Burglary and 2 Counts of Thefts

On 01/14/20, victim came into headquarters and reported two package thefts to Officer Joseph Spano. On 01/07/20, victim received an email confirmation that her package was delivered on 01/07/20 at 9:53 AM. On 01/08/20, victim received an email confirmation that her package was delivered on 01/08/20 at 3:50 PM. On both dates victim arrived home after the delivery time and discovered both of her packages missing. Det. David DiMartino was assigned to investigate the above reported theft. On 02/01/20, Det. David DiMartino, through his investigation, charged Joel Arece with Burglary and Theft for both incidents.

Charge: Theft of Movable Property

On 01/23/20, victim came into headquarters and reported a package theft to Sergeant Joseph Lucignano. On 01/20/20, victim stated she received a text message that her package was delivered. Victim responded a few minutes later to retrieve her package and discovered the package missing. Det. Fabian Quinones was assigned to investigate the above reported theft. On 02/03/20, Det. Fabian Quinones, through his investigation, charged Joel Arece with Theft of Movable Property.

Charges: Burglary and Theft of Movable Property

On 02/06/20, Det. David DiMartino was updating the above victim from 111 Newark Street on her case, when she notified Det. DiMartino of another package theft. On 01/20/20, victim received an email confirmation that her package was delivered on 01/20/20 at 1:00 PM. When victim arrived home after her package was delivered, she discovered her package missing. On 02/06/20, Det. David DiMartino, through his investigation, charged Joel Arece with Burglary and Theft.

On 02/09/20, at about 3:48 AM, Officer Samuel Flores and Officer Marvin Dejesus observed Joel Arece walked into Basille’s Pizza 89 Washington Street. Officers had knowledge that Joel Arece was wanted for the above listed incidents. They notified headquarters and confirmed Arece’s warrants were still active. Arece was arrested and transported to headquarters. All of Arece’s charges were placed on warrants and after processing he was transported to Hudson County Jail.

Defendant is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
