Hoboken Mayor Urges Residents to Get the Flu Shot

MAYOR BHALLA, HOBOKEN HEALTH DEPARTMENT URGE HOBOKEN RESIDENTS TO GET FLU SHOT

Hoboken Family Pharmacy to provide flu shots for Hoboken residents on Thursday and Friday

Mayor Ravi Bhalla and the Hoboken Health Department are urging Hoboken residents six months of age and older to obtain a flu shot, given the likelihood of the upcoming flu season coinciding with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The City and Hoboken Family Pharmacy have partnered to offer flu shots for Hoboken residents 12 years of age and older this upcoming Thursday and Friday from 8 am until 3 pm at 605 Jackson Street. To sign up for a flu shot through Hoboken Family Pharmacy, residents are asked to schedule an appointment with insurance information at www.hobokennj.gov/hfp.

“This year, more than ever before, it is critical for residents to get a flu vaccine,” said Mayor Bhalla. “Doing so will help prioritize healthcare resources and testing for those who need it, especially given the potential for an uptick in COVID-19 cases during the flu season. Thank you to Hoboken Family Pharmacy for working with the City to provide flu shots for Hoboken residents.”

Residents obtaining a flu shot at Hoboken Family Pharmacy at 605 Jackson Street are asked to bring a government issued identification or proof of Hoboken address, along with insurance information. The City and Hoboken Family Pharmacy will have a certain allotment of vaccinations available for those residents without health insurance at no cost on a first-come, first-serve basis via appointment.

Children between the ages of 12 and 18 must have written permission from a parent or guardian to obtain a flu shot at Hoboken Family Pharmacy, following state regulations. Flu shots are also available at most other medical offices and facilities in Hoboken.

A flu vaccine generally takes two weeks to provide full protection, which lasts approximately six months.
