HOMICIDE UNIT INVESTIGATING FATAL SHOOTING IN HOBOKEN
Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Hoboken Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Marshall Drive on Sunday, September 25, 2022.
At approximately 3:25 a.m., the Hoboken Police Department received a 911 call reporting a shooting in the area of 560 Marshall Drive. Upon arrival, responding officers located a male victim – later identified as Christopher Garcia, 28, of Hoboken – with an apparent gunshot wound to the torso. He was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 3:56 a.m. The Cause and Manner of Death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner.
Hoboken Housing Authority Executive Director Marc Recko issued the following statement:
“Last night, in the nighttime hours of September 25th, a young man’s life was cut short on HHA property by a senseless act of violence. We at HHA have heavy hearts and send our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of the victim. HHA staff, including Chairperson Barbara Reyes and myself, have been on the scene of the crime since being notified. We are working with Law Enforcement and will continue to collaborate closely with the entire community as we begin to heal after this tragic event.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Hoboken Police Department are actively investigating this case. No arrests have been made at this time.
