Hoboken Police Arrest Two In Connection To Housing Authority Drug Activity

The Hoboken Police Department has announced that last Monday, September 15th, the  Detective Bureau’s Street Crimes Unit, under the supervision of Detective Sgt. William Collins, two individuals were arrested following an investigation into illegal narcotics activity.   The investigation was prompted by numerous community complaints about drug activity in and around the Hoboken Housing Authority.

A press release from the Police Department states, “At approximately 12:45 p.m., on Sept. 15, Detectives observed what appeared to be a narcotics transaction between two individuals, involving a cigarette dipped in phencyclidine (PCP) on the 300 block of Jackson Street. A short time later, they located both men, identified as 42-year-old Kevin Salamanca of North Arlington and 29-year-old Marquis Praylow of Hoboken, nearby. Salamanca was found to be in possession of a cigarette soaked in PCP. Praylow, who fled when he saw officers, was seen discarding an item as he ran away. After he was placed under arrest, officers located a bottle containing 22 wax-like folds and a small jar containing a gold liquid, suspected to be PCP, nearby. A search incident to arrest also recovered $148 in small denominations, consistent with narcotics transactions.”

Both individuals were taken to Hoboken Police Headquarters, where they were processed on multiple charges of CDS distribution and possession, including within a school zone. Salamanca and Praylow were ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny.
