Hoboken Police: Elizabeth Man arrested for Eluding and CDS

Offense: Eluding, Possession of CDS Marijuana with intent to Distribute, Possession of CDS Marijuana with intent to Distribute within 1,000 feet of a School, Possession of CDS Marijuana with intent to Distribute within 500 feet of a Park, Possession of CDS Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Seven Motor Vehicle Summonses

 

Officers Involved: P.O. Mar/co Grossmann and Lieutenant Keith Rotondi

Incident Detail: At about 11:23 PM, Wednesday, July 08, 2020, Officer Marco Grossmann was on patrol when he observed about 5 motorcycles drive into a closed street. The operators drove around a barricade blocking eastbound traffic at the intersection of 2nd and River Street. Officer Grossmann attempted a motor vehicle stop. The operators ignored Officer Grossmann’s visual and audible signals to stop and drove off in different directions. Officer Grossmann followed the trailing motorcycle until he observed the motorcycle drive onto the sidewalk in the area of 104 Washington Street and was ordered to stop pursuing by Lieutenant Keith Rotondi. Officer Marco Grossmann then observed the motorcycle drive across Frist Street through the crosswalk and continued to drive on the sidewalk at a low rate of speed. The motorcycle was eventually stopped on the sidewalk in the area of 94 Washington Street by Lt Rotondi. Officer Grossmann arrived on scene and placed the operator under arrest. The operator was identified as Carlos Nerivera 23 y/o Male from Elizabeth, NJ. Nerivera was found to be in Possession of CDS Suspected Marijuana.  Nerivera was charged with Eluding, Possession of CDS Marijuana with intent to Distribute, Possession of CDS Marijuana with intent to Distribute within 1,000 feet of a School, Possession of CDS Marijuana with intent to Distribute within 500 feet of a Park, Possession of CDS Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. His charges were placed on a summons. Nerivera was also issued Seven Motor Vehicle Summonses: Driving on closed roadway, Reckless Driving, Fictitious Plates, Driving While Suspended, Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle, Unlicensed Driver, and Expired License. Nerivera was released with a court date.

 

Defendant is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
