Hoboken Woman finds apartment burglarized with over 28k in merchandise stolen, Police arrest 3 people

Arrest Date, Time, & Location:  03/16/20, 10:49PM, 6th and Harrison St Hoboken, NJ

Arrestee: Ozgur Sagir 25 y/o Male from West New York, NJ

Arrest Date, Time, & Location: 03/16/20, 6:39 PM, Newport Mall Light Rail Station Jersey City, NJ

Charges: Receiving Stolen Property, Hindering Apprehension, Tampering with Evidence, Fencing

Officers: P.O. Marc Lombardi, P.O. Joseph Cahill, D/Sgt. Jonathan Mecka, Det. Michael Losurdo, Det. Adam Colon, Det. Fabian Quinones, Det. Paul Quinn, and P.O. Connor Milne

Incident Detail: At 5:29 PM, P.O. Marc Lombardi and P.O. Joseph Cahill responded to the 300 Block of Madison Street on a reported Burglary to a residential apartment. The victim reported that she arrived home at about 5:20 PM and discovered multiple items missing from her apartment, with a total value of about $28,000. Uniform patrol provided information to D/Sgt. Jonathan Mecka, Det. Michael Losurdo and Det. Adam Colon that lead to the arrest of Ozgur Sagir. At 6:39 PM Sagir was arrested as he exited Newport Mall and about to take the light rail. At the time of the arrest, Sagir was in possession of the victim’s laptop. Sagir was then transported to Hoboken Police headquarters for processing. Continue investigation lead to a second suspect Tony Watson. At 10:17 PM, Det. Fabian Quinones, Det. Paul Quinn, and P.O. Connor Milne located Watson in the area of 6th and Harrison Street. Watson was arrested and transported to headquarters. At the time of Watson’s arrest, Watson had an open warrant out of Jersey City, NJ. At 10:49 PM, Det. Fabian Quinones and P.O. Connor Milne responded back to 6th and Harrison Street to conduct a follow up investigation and encountered Nancy Torres attempting to throw away stolen merchandise belonging to the victim. Torres was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters. Detectives were able to recover about $14,000 of merchandise stolen from the victim’s apartment. Tony Watson was charged with Receiving Stolen Property and Fencing. Watson’s charges were placed on a warrant and he was transported to the Hudson County Jail. Nancy Torres was charged with Receiving Stolen Property, Hindering, and Tampering with Evidence. Torres’s charges were placed on a summons and released. Ozgur Sagir was charged with Receiving Stolen Property. Sagir’s charges went on a summons and released.

 

All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
