Friday afternoon’s fatal shooting in North Bergen is still under investigation according to Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello.
According to Prosecutor Mello, the Homicide Unit and the North Bergen Police Department are continuing their investigation of the fatal shooting which occurred shortly before 1:30 pm on Friday, July 10, 2026.
According to Mello, just after 1:30 p.m., the North Bergen Police Department was notified of a shooting inside an apartment at 1525 48th Street. Responding officers located an injured male – later identified as 47-year old Christopher Novembre of North Bergen – with an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased a short time later. The cause and manner of Death are pending with the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
The individual involved in the shooting has been identified and the circumstances regarding this matter are actively being investigated by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit.
