Hudson County Commissioners Apply For Federal Dementia Grant

Hudson County– The Hudson County Board of Commissioners have authorized the application and acceptance of funds, if awarded from United States Department of Justice, Reducing Injury and Death of Missing Individuals with Dementia and Developmental Disabilities Grant Program for an amount up to $300,000.

These funds will provide training to law enforcement, first responders, families and caregivers of individuals who are prone to wander.  Funding will also be used to purchase tracking technology to assist in rescue efforts for individuals with forms of dementia, such as Alzheimer’s disease, or developmental disabilities, such as Autism, who due to their condition wander from safe environments.

This program will run from October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2024.

Board Chairman Anthony Vainieri and the Hudson County Board of Commissioners are committed to providing the resources needed to assist individuals with forms of dementia or developmental disabilities who wander from safe environments in Hudson County.
