Hudson County Commissioners: Inmate Housing & Reintegration Program Would Get $3.5 Million

The Hudson County Board of Commissioners has authorized the application and acceptance of funds, if approved, totaling $3,500,000 for services provided to inmates through the Housing and Reintegration Program of the Hudson County Department of Family Services.  The program provides services that inmates can use for housing, treatment, obtain medications and go to job training and job search services.

The program runs from January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2021.

Board Chairman Anthony Vainieri says the Hudson County Board of Commissioners are committed to providing the necessary resources to assist in development and the procurement of employment for supervised offenders, work on pre-employment, job readiness skills, employability skills and job placement.

The Commissioners have also authorized the application and acceptance of funds, if awarded from New Jersey Transit Corporation, for Senior Citizens and Disabled Residents Transportation Assistance Program for 2021, totaling $1,530,000.

This grant will also run through December 31, 2021.

These funds will provide transportation services to eligible senior citizens and disabled residents living in Hudson County.  These services include: transportation to medical appointments, recreational activities, nutrition sites, educational experiences and certain employment locations.
