The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office’s weekly felony complaint list for Sept. 28 to Oct. 4, 2026, shows 116 people facing 276 charges on 126 complaints across 10 Hudson County towns, according to records Hudson TV obtained under the Open Public Records Act. The list includes 47 weapons charges, 26 aggravated assault charges, one carjacking charge and one kidnapping charge. No homicide charges appear on it.

Jersey City accounted for more than half the list: 154 of the 276 charges, against 58 people.

These are charges, not convictions. Everyone named or counted here is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. Hudson TV counted every line of the spreadsheet the Prosecutor’s Office released. A charge’s status can change as prosecutors review it.

The most serious charges

Carjacking, Jersey City: Hani A. Akhnoukh of Jersey City is charged with carjacking by inflicting bodily injury or using force on an occupant (N.J.S.A. 2C:15-2A(1)), on a Jersey City complaint dated Oct. 2. The spreadsheet lists no other charges in that case. It’s the only carjacking charge on this week’s list. The case is still in screening, meaning prosecutors are reviewing the charges.

Kidnapping and robbery, Jersey City: Yvann Arteta of Jersey City is charged with kidnapping (bodily injury or terrorizing a victim), robbery, aggravated assault on a domestic violence victim, making terroristic threats and two weapons counts, on a Jersey City complaint dated Sept. 28. In screening.

Robbery, Union City: Rodolfo N. Contreras of Fairview is charged with robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery on a Union City complaint dated Sept. 29. In screening.

Attempted robbery, Bayonne: David J. Taylor of Jersey City is charged with attempted robbery and disorderly conduct on a Bayonne complaint dated Oct. 3. In screening.

Sex offenses: Three people face sex-offense charges on this week’s list. A Jersey City man was arrested Oct. 1 on charges of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child involving a victim between 13 and 15, according to an HCPO arrest report released with the list. A Bayonne complaint dated Oct. 1 includes a sexual assault charge, and a Jersey City complaint dated Oct. 2 charges possession of child sexual abuse material. Hudson TV is not naming the defendants in these cases, to protect the victims.

Weapons and assaults

  • 47 weapons charges against 21 people. Nine people, all in Jersey City, are charged with having a handgun without a permit. Two Jersey City complaints dated Oct. 3 include the charge of a minor possessing a firearm.
  • 26 aggravated assault charges against 23 people. Eleven of those charges, against eight people, are for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer: five people in Jersey City and one each in Harrison, Hoboken and Union City. Five people are charged with strangling a domestic violence victim.
  • Robbery: four robbery-related charges (robbery, attempt or conspiracy) against three people, listed above.

By town

Town Charges People Complaints
Jersey City 154 58 65
Hoboken 35 10 10
Kearny 17 9 10
Bayonne 16 9 10
Union City 16 9 9
Weehawken 12 6 6
Secaucus 9 6 6
West New York 8 4 4
Harrison 5 3 3
North Bergen 4 3 3
Total 276 116 126

Town is where the complaint was filed, not where the person lives. One person was charged in two towns, so the town rows add up to 117 people.

By type of charge

Type Charges People
Drugs (possession, distribution, paraphernalia) 66 26
Weapons 47 21
Theft, shoplifting, stolen property 36 30
Aggravated assault 26 23
Resisting arrest, obstruction, hindering 24 14
Burglary (incl. burglary tools) 11 8
Robbery (incl. attempt, conspiracy) 4 3
Sex offenses 4 3
Carjacking 1 1
Kidnapping 1 1
Other (threats, simple assault, restraining order violations, child endangerment, stalking and more) 56 38
Total 276

Hudson TV grouped each charge by its New Jersey statute. One person can face several types of charges, so the People column doesn’t add up to 116.

What the list shows, and what it doesn’t

The spreadsheet lists criminal complaints by complaint date. It doesn’t show arrest dates or whether someone was held. Most charge lines (234) are marked “screening,” meaning prosecutors are still reviewing them. Forty are marked “closed” at the initial stage, which can mean a charge was downgraded or sent to municipal court. It is not a verdict. Two are marked “domestic violence.”

Hudson TV is publishing the spreadsheet with names, home addresses and case numbers removed, along with the Prosecutor’s Office response letter (spreadsheet, letter). Court records for individual cases can be searched through the New Jersey Courts case search.
