There were no surprises in Hudson County’s State and County races today, as Democratic incumbents and newcomers easily dismantled their Republican opponents in races where Republicans were on the ballot according to preliminary numbers provided by the Hudson County Clerk’s Office.
Craig Guy ran unopposed and will become Hudson County’s new Executive. All of Hudson County’s incumbent, County Commissioners were re-elected.
On the State level, in the four Hudson County Legislative districts, there were no surprises and really no close races to speak of. In District 29, Teresa Ruiz was re-elected Senator while Eliana Pintor Marin and Shanique Speight head back to the Assembly. East Newark and Harrison are in the District, which is mostly in Essex County.
In the 31st District, Angela McKnight moves up from the Assembly to take the Senate spot, while William Sampson returns to the Assembly and newcomer Barbara McCann Stamato joins him.
District 32, which was redrawn, as was District 33, elected Raj Mukherji, the former Assemblyman to the Senate and re-elected Brian Stack to the Senate respectively. The new Assembly members in the 32nd District are John Allen and Jessica Ramirez, while former West New York Mayor Gabriel Rodriguez and former North Bergen Commissioner Julio Marenco are the new Assembly persons in District 33.
