Continuing a popular tradition held throughout the year, Union City Mayor Brian Stack and the Board of Commissioners held a special luncheon on Saturday afternoon for the city’s senior citizen population at the Colin Powell School.  This gathering celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month.

Hundreds of seniors attended, enjoying an afternoon of music, dancing and good food.  Members of the Union City High School ROTC Program served the seniors a hot meal of pulled pork, rice and yuca root.

Everyone had a wonderful time meeting with their neighbors, and just possibly, making some new friends.  The Commissioners hold such luncheons throughout the calendar year, celebrating Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving and other holidays.

In addition to the lunch, the seniors were given COVID-19 home testing kits as they arrived.

Despite some morning rain, the school gym was packed for the luncheon.
