Entering a new school can be intimidating, even scary. That’s why Weehawken 7th graders received an orientation from high school administrators on Tuesday morning.
Approximately 105 7th graders will be entering Weehawken High School for the new school semester. During Tuesday’s orientation, they were given tours of the high school, had their photo IDs taken and introduced to the school’s administrators.
They were told what was expected of them once classes begin and how they need to scan in every day they arrive at school so they won’t be considered absent.
Principal Robert Ferullo told the students from this day forward they will be treated as adults, and their actions would be treated as such. He explained about all of the opportunities available to the students, from clubs and athletics to assistance from the guidance department if needed.
The session was intended to ease the students’ anxiety about graduating from elementary school to a new building, the high school, featuring grades seven through twelve.
