JCFD Earns Historic Achievement Following Successful Improvements to Fire Prevention, Community Relations, Training, and Technology
Jersey City Joins Top 1% in Fire Protection Nationwide
The Jersey City Fire Department has officially been awarded Public Protection Classification 01 from the Insurance Services Office (ISO). The designation was bestowed during a ceremony held last week commemorating the Department’s historic achievement. This is the first time in the Jersey City Fire Department’s 151 year history that it has received a Class 1 designation.
The recognition places the Jersey City Fire Department in the top 1% of fire departments analyzed and among the best of the fire departments in the United States. This classification has the potential to lower residents and businesses insurance premiums commutatively.
While weathering the COVID-19 pandemic, the Jersey City Fire Department did not miss a beat and it continued to make improvements. As a result of a great team effort, many enhancements were made, including changes in management, increases in certified training, improvements to Fire Prevention and Community Relations, a new Police/Fire Computer Aided Dispatch system run by CSI, as well as, better coordination with external vendors. These coordinated modifications to how the JCFD provides fire protection was recognized and acknowledged by the ISO and will be effective July 1, 2022.
