Dear Honorable Senator Menendez and Senator Booker,
I am writing to express my strong support for the appointment of Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez as U.S. Attorney for New Jersey.
As an active community member, co-founder, and executive director of the Jersey City Anti-Violence Coalition Movement, I have had the unique opportunity to work closely with Prosecutor Suarez over the last several years. Not only has she demonstrated her commitment to the people of Hudson County, but she has developed a relationship built on trust and respect with community leaders.  She has an open-door policy and is always available to discuss issues affecting our neighborhoods, which is something I can say that I sincerely appreciate.
Through this relationship and an increased dialogue, there has been noticeable improvement on issues of violent crime, although there is always more work we need to do. Her office has engaged with the community through numerous events and has developed meaningful programs and partnerships that are making real impact.
On occasions where her office has had to investigate a use of force incident by the Jersey
City police, she has also proven to be committed to a fair and transparent investigation.  On multiple occasions, she and her staff have invited community leaders to meet and view
body camera footage. And perhaps most importantly, she listens to what our concerns are and has shown a true commitment to working together on these issues.
I believe that Prosecutor Suarez has the best interest of all the diverse constituencies throughout our state at heart and believes and demands a fair and unbiased application of the law.  I enthusiastically support her appointment as U.S. Attorney.
Pamela Johnson, MPA
Executive Director
