Jersey City Lights Municipal Christmas Tree Tonight & Holds Toy Distribution on Friday

Jersey City’s Yearly Tradition Kicks Off the Holiday Season with Christmas Tree Lighting and 25th Annual Toy Drive

Mayor Steven Fulop Spreads Holiday Cheer to Youth as City Meets Historic Increase in Demand for Toy Drive

An annual holiday tradition continues today in Jersey City, as Mayor Steven Fulop will join the City Council and community members to help kickoff the holiday season.   There will be multiple events this week hosted by the City, kicking off at 5 p.m. this afternoon, December 1st, as the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place at the City Hall Annex, located at Ege Avenue and MLK Drive.

Then on Friday, December 3rd, Mayor Fulop will join the Resident Response Center to distribute gifts to over 1,600 children and families in need this holiday season.

This year, due to the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, registrations for Jersey City’s 25th Annual Toy Drive has increased over 160% from last year.  To make sure every child receives a present this holiday, the City is meeting the increased need by providing unwrapped toys donated by the community to children under 12 years old.

Friday’s event begins at 6 pm in the City Hall Council Chambers.
