Jersey City Man Arrested After Eluding Bayonne Police Following Traffic Violations

Eddie J. Torres, age 28 of Duncan Avenue in Jersey City, has been arrested by Bayonne Police according to Captain Eric Amato.  Amato says Torres was taken into custody at 11:06 am yesterday, Thursday, November 3, from the area of Bostwick Avenue in Jersey City.  Captain Amato says the arrest stems from an eluding incident that occurred in Bayonne earlier in the day.

According to Amato, on Thursday morning at 3:30, a Bayonne Police Officer on patrol observed a vehicle on East 21st Street traveling at a high rate of speed.  As the officer attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop in the area of Route 440 North and East 21st Street, the driver, later identified as Torres, refused to comply with the stop and sped off, going through a red light on East 22nd Street and Route 440 North.

The vehicle continued on Route 440 North into Jersey City.  The Jersey City Police Department was advised of the incident and located the vehicle parked on Bostwick Avenue.  After a short time, Torres emerged from a residence and was advised of the investigation.  That investigation led to Torres being identified as the driver of the vehicle involved in the earlier eluding incident in Bayonne.

He has been charged by police with eluding.
