Jersey City Man Arrested For Sexual Assault of Girl When She Was 13

At approximately 9:40 a.m. this morning, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested 38-year old Percell Mallard of Jersey City on charges involving the sexual assault of a female victim when she was 13-years-old.   Mallard was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City without incident.

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, on November 18, 2021, members of the Special Victims Unit were notified by the Jersey City Police Department about the alleged sexual assaults which began in October 2020 in a Jersey City residence.  Mallard was acquainted with the female victim as a friend of the family.  He was arrested following an investigation by the SVU.

The charges against Mallard are:  He has been charged with Sexual Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2c(4), a second- degree crime and Endangering the Welfare of a Child in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1), a second-degree crime.

Following his arrest, Mallard was taken to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny pending his first court appearance.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit with the investigation and arrest.  The above charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. R.P.C.3.6 (b) (6)
