27-year old, Jersey City resident Anthony Franklin has been sentenced to 22 years in New Jersey State Prison  for a shooting that took place in Jersey City three years ago.  According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, the Honorable Carlo Abad, J.S.C. sentenced Franklin on Friday, April 19, 2024 for a shooting that occurred in Jersey City on April 5, 2021.

Franklin was convicted at trial of attempted murder; unlawful possession of a weapon; and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.  The verdict was pronounced on February 23, 2023.  Franklin pled guilty to one count of certain persons not to possess a weapon.

As a result, he was sentenced to the 22 years pursuant to the Graves Act and the No Early Release Act.  Franklin was also sentenced to seven years in New Jersey State Prison for the certain persons offense, which will be served concurrently to the 22 years.

The shooting had occurred in the area of Lexington Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard where two individuals were injured.
